About
Bruce Underwood The mobile disc jockey trade was much different at one time. In those early days, the popularity of the disc jockey was just beginning to broaden beyond sock hops, canteens or other informal gatherings. Live bands reigned supreme. Once the sole font of music entertainment for more formal, elaborate social gatherings, bands were challenged by a new form of musical expression - the mobile disc jockey. Although disc jockeys in and of themselves had been around for decades, their growing acceptance as a legitimate, respected musical alternative overshadowed many reputable bands in terms of musical variety and affordability. As the stigma of not having a live band for more conventional affairs began to recede, the suitability of having a good disc jockey host an event only escalated. As good bands were priced above the reach of many potential clients, disc jockeys were there to fill the void, thus a new industry was spawned. As the old business adage goes…Find a need and fill it!
Then, with little more that a two-line newspaper advertisement, and of
course favorable word of mouth referrals, it didn't take much to line
up business. A stack of 45's, a cardboard box of record albums and a music
system no more sophisticated than a hotwired stereo setup was about all
it took for most engagements. Bookings were more often than not made after
answering a few simple questions over the phone. Questions such as "Are
you available on such and such date," and "How much do you charge?"
were pretty much the extent of the business transaction! Oh yes, "Do
you have any disco?" Today's client is much more discerning. Because of the intense competition and dizzying array of services offered, it is little wonder consumers sometimes feel a little inundated and overly cautious, especially in this new age of e-commerce. At times, it seems as if the process of picking the right disc jockey has become needlessly complicated. After all, shouldn't he be the one that worries about the music entertainment, and not you? Don't you have enough anxiety about all the other things already? That's where Bruce Underwood comes into the picture. Bruce has witnessed remarkable change, and has embraced it. It takes a whole lot more to market any service today, the competition is dazzling. The business has morphed into an industry comprised of large mobile disc jockey companies with dozens of in house dj's on staff. It also seems that just about everybody knows someone, who has a friend, who spins for a hobby on the weekends. That juiced up stereo setup of years ago has now been replaced by elaborate sound systems and lighting packages, which exceed thousands of dollars in capital outlay. Vinyl has given way to compact discs. Microphones are wireless. Appearance counts! No one wants to see unsightly wires or cables draped all over the place. With the internet now reaching millions of potential customers, it has supplanted the newspaper as the chief purveyor of services offered. Of course, word of mouth advertising is still king! Bruce Underwood, with hundreds of successful engagements to his credit, continues doing what he loves the most - using his combined Musical talent and sound system entertainment acumen to work for his clients. Some things, though, have not changed. Then, as now, no event is more important than yours. Dependability and superior customer service are Bruce's hallmark. No question or inquiry is ever too insignificant, be it from clients or other disc jockeys seeking advice. All concerns are addressed promptly - before, during and after the occasion. Professionalism, consistency and excellence are the benchmarks, which define Bruce's commitment to his craft, and to you. Selecting the right Entertainer is an important decision, so why not make the right choice. Remember, there's only one Bruce Underwood. Background: References: More upon request
